What does a lymphatic drainage session look like?

Lymphatic drainage is performed on the face, legs or arms. During the session, the patient lies in a draining position (with the massaged limb raised), which facilitates the drainage of lymph that has built up. Lymphatic massage is very gentle, slow. The movements performed by the therapist are of a pushing nature.

What is lymphatic drainage?

When performing drainage, the therapist is mindful of a strict sequence of movements. The effects of drainage are:

– removal of lymph from the intercellular space,
– unclogging of the lymphatic vessels, thus facilitating its passage to the lymph nodes, where it is purified and enriched with immune cells; the lymph then returns via the large lymphatic trunks to the circulatory system,
– removal of excess toxins and metabolic products,
– improving the transport of fresh blood, rich in valuable nutrients, to the tissues.
– assisting with swelling caused by: injuries, lymph stasis, circulation disorders, during periods of inactivity, after oncological treatments (in consultation with your doctor).
