The sun is the energy of life! It inspires joy in us, motivates us to action, and charges us with positive energy! We love the sun for beautiful tans and good moods, but it gives us something more! It is the sun’s rays that activate the process of vitamin D3 production, guaranteeing excellent health. Did you know that vitamin D3 has rejuvenating and anti-cancer properties, influences our cholesterol levels, and fights against autoimmunological disease? Enjoy the sun even when it doesn’t shine – with heliotherapy at Studio Sante City Spa!
WHERE DOES VITAMIN D3 COME FROM?
Vitamin D3 is created as a result of the interaction of the sun’s energy with pure cholesterol stored in the skin. It is a spontaneous photochemical reaction, dependent on whether the particles of cholesterol are in the skin and whether the necessary amount of sunlight can reach them. For the process to take place about 10-30 minutes of exposure to the sun’s rays without UVB filters, or alternatively lamps emitting light of the correct wavelength, is required.
VITAMIN D3 – AN ESSENTIAL HEALTH FACTOR
Vitamin D3 regulates about 200 different biological reactions, and deficiencies can lead to many disorders and diseases. How is this possible? It has been discovered that in every cell of the human body, there is a so-called vitamin D3 receptor, which when stimulated by the vitamin initiates further biochemical processes in individual cells and the whole body. A deficiency of this vitamin blocks these processes, causing a whole range of illnesses. This phenomenon works both ways, and supplying the body with D3 can have an amazing effect on the improvement of our health!
SPEND TIME IN THE SUN AND GET RID OF CHOLESTEROL
In the opinion of Dr Mirosław Mastej, new studies may soon lead to a change in the recommendation “avoid the sun” to “Enjoy the sun” if you want to lower your cholesterol levels and reduce the risk of heart attack! Scientists believe that the transformation of vitamin D3 into cholesterol is a natural way for the body to get rid of excess cholesterol. Additionally, the more vitamin D3 is created in the skin, the more HDL – the so-called good cholesterol, necessary for maintaining health, is created.
VITAMIN D3, AUTOIMMUNOLOGICAL ILLNESS AND CANCER
Vitamin D3 regulates the function of the immune system and prevents patholOgies associated with it. Dr Mastej claims that deficiencies of this vitamin can cause autoimmunological disease such as Hashimoto’s hyperthyroidism, multiple sclerosis, rheumatoid disease, lupus, allergies, atopic skin inflammation, psoriasis, albinism, and asthma. Vitamin D3 also regulates the dying off of old and damaged cells, including potentially cancerous cells, exhibiting a rejuvenating and anti-cancer effect.
INCREASE YOUR LEVELS OF VITAMIN D3 WITH HELIOTHERAPY
To increase levels of vitamin D3, enjoy the power of the sun for about half an hour a day without creams or UV filters. Dr Mastej stresses that in Poland the most effective time for the synthesis of vitamin D3 is between March 10th and October 15th, when the angle at which sunlight falls is above 30 degrees, and is best done in flat terrain between the hours of 11.00 am. and 3.00 pm., and on mountainous slopes, a few hours earlier and later. The best place for heliotherapy in Poland is the slope of Gubałówka in Zakopane, which has an ideal angle. You can also enjoy the benefits of heliotherapy at Studio Sante – our lamps emit radiation with a wavelength of approximately 297 nanometres, allowing you to obtain your essential daily dose of vitamin D3. Remember that sunbathing for longer than 20 minutes does not create a reserve of vitamin D3 that can be stored – the excess is transformed into other chemical substances.
